The Woods Project’s First Essay Contest is now accepting entries!
Students who have participated in The Woods Project programs, including weekend trips, summer trips and clubs, are eligible to submit an essay of no more than 1,200 words that reflect their experience with The Woods Project. A selection committee will select three essays to be recognized and awarded.
Essay Guidelines:
Write about your Woods Project experience in an essay of no more than 1,200 words, double-spaced with 12 point font.
Think about how has your experience with the Woods Project helped you develop one of our Key Character Traits (see below)? For example, what was the most challenging part of your trip and how did you overcome those challenges? What did you learn? How have you become a better leader or team player? Choose one or two Traits to focus on, and use concrete examples to demonstrate.

Award Recognition:
First Place: a Backpacking/Camping Hammock (Straps Included)

*Winners will be notified via email by the end of February 2017 and winning essays will also be published on The Woods Project website and social media sites.
Submission Guideline:
Please upload your essay in a Word document, double-spaced with 12 point font, titled with your full name, no later than February 10, 2017.
Essay Contest Rules:
- Essays must be typed.
- Essays must be written in English.
- Essays must be your original work, and resources must be clearly cited.
- Essays must have titles.
