Nearly 40 GDF Suez employees traded their computers in for work gloves this week. GDF Suez sponsored the Community Volunteer Day at Memorial Park on Thursday, December 11th.
Volunteers worked with Memorial Park Conservancy and Bayou Preservation Association performing environmental service projects to benefit Memorial Park grounds. Projects included weeding a tree grove and pruning trees – all necessary activities to keep the park healthy and beautiful.
GDF Suez employees also had the chance to hear TWP alum Ahmad Abulhaija share stories about his experiences on TWP summer trips. The challenges he faced and overcame in Donner Pass and Glacier National Park helped him discover a new sense of confidence and a true “Can Do” spirit. Ahmad is no longer a shy high school student – he’s a confident young man, well on his way to finding success in college and life.
Thanks again to GDF Suez for sponsoring this volunteer day. If you’d like more information about how your company can get involved with future events, please contact Marji Geuther, marji@thewoodsproject.org.
