DESCRIPTION:Daytime Volunteers Needed!\n  \nAt The Woods Project we always strive to improve our program and serve our students in the best way possible. To get more done in a timely manner we are hoping to have volunteers sign up for shifts throughout the week. Shifts will be variable each week as the workload and needs change. In office tasks may include working on various kits\, club supplies\, data entry\, creating summer leader manuals\, or even making calls to students. Another task but located at the front of the Red Cross will be Saturday trip departures that involve helping leaders and teachers get students loaded onto the correct bus. \nI am also adding some warehouse tasks that involve loading up the Uhaul on Friday packouts and unloading it on their Sunday returns. In general\, there will be different tasks every week. If you are interested\, please sign-up below to be added to my daytime volunteer email list. It does not sign you up for a specific shift but adds you to the email list that will notify you when our shifts are created. I will send out registration links for specific shifts every 2 to 4 weeks. \nIf you want to see what shifts we currently available REGISTER HERE. \nBecause many of these tasks may only require a handful of people\, you will need to register. Once you register for a specific shift you will receive a confirmation along with information about the location\, expected task and staff person in charge. \nAs always\, our wonderful volunteers are the only way we make things happen with a small staff. DESCRIPTION:It’s summer at The Woods Project!\nTo kick off our summer trips we host informational meetings for students and parents so they can see what our summer program entails. We would love a handful of volunteers that can help with check in and if possible translation. We have students from different schools and organizations show up to each meeting.  We will have a few parents that speak primarily Spanish\, French\, or Vietnamese. Having a volunteer that can help translate our responses and help parents ask their question would be fantastic! Of course\, if you don’t speak a second language no worries! SUMMARY:Tent Inventory & Set up
DESCRIPTION:Help us get ready for summer by getting our tents ready prior to sending them out on our summer trips! This involves setting them up\, checking for damage\, identifying any missing parts\, and then breaking them back down and packing them up. It’s a simple task that goes quickly with 15 to 20 people. If time allows we will do some simple repairs involving gear tape. \nWe will meet at Bayland Park at 9:45am in order to begin at 10am. Please dress comfortably\, and bring a refillable water bottle. DESCRIPTION:Summer Snack Sorting with Amegy\nWelcome Amegy Bank volunteers! Do you like to sort and organize things? If so\, we could use your help! Once again\, we will be separating the snack\, hot cocoa\, and oatmeal sorting from our gear pack-outs. We will meet at the warehouse and set up tables and bins. The activity involves counting out a variety of snacks\, oatmeal\, or cocoa packets and putting them in 2 gal bags. We will also prepare the travel day snack bags the students will take on their Airport Day. DESCRIPTION:Summer Leader Training #1\nRequired for ALL summer volunteer leaders.\n \nThe Woods Project summer leader training spans 2 days and will be held at our offices directly behind the American Red Cross building (2700 Southwest Freeway\, Houston\, TX\, 77098). This training is for our summer trip leaders only. The training covers important information on procedures\, policies\, and programming through the incorporation of presentation\, discussion\, scenarios\, and hands-on gear handling. Training will run from 8 am to 5 pm each day. Please dress comfortable and bring a refillable water bottle. Breakfast and lunch will be served each day. \nSummer leaders are required to attend 1 of the 2  available sessions. \nLeader training #1 – Saturday\, April 25 – Sunday\, April 26: REGISTER HERE \nPlease register for one of the trainings if you have been assigned as a Summer Leader for the 2026 trips.
