SUMMARY:Fall Weekend Trip #1
DESCRIPTION:Lake Livingston Kayaking or Memorial Park Backpacking\nLake Livingston Canoeing/Kayaking:  The Woods Project will once again be partnering with Texas Parks and Wildlife through Texas Outdoor Families. We will spend both Friday and Saturday nights camping along the shores of Lake Livingston at Lake Livingston State Park. On Saturday\, the group will be split into two so everyone will spend a half day of out on the water kayaking and the other half day hiking\, geocaching\, and fishing. If you have your own boat\, we encourage you to bring it along!\n \nMemorial Park Backpacking:  Please join us this Saturday for a great workshop exploring a section of Memorial Park! We will meet at the park at 9 am and we will spend the morning learning how to pack a backpack and spend some time walking the trails around the park. We should be done by around 1 pm.\n \nREGISTER HERE! \nPlease note:  The trip signup is your opportunity to make your preferences and availability for our weekend trips known.  We will make our best effort to place you on the trip(s) that you have requested.  However\, due to limits on capacity\, as well as the need to maintain a reasonable adult:student ratio\, there may be trips where we do not have space for every leader who would like to attend. We will follow up by email 1-2 weeks prior to our weekend trips with details and all the information you will need for attending.  Thank you!

SUMMARY:Tent Washing Day
DESCRIPTION:Come help us wash our tents!\nOur tents get a lot of use and after several years of use they are in desperate need of washing. We will meet at The Woods Project office and wash our tents using a bin method. This is a first for us and we are not sure how many we can get through in the allotted time. Because we need to keep our tents waterproofed careful handling will be required so that we do not get tears in them. We will provide lunch\, snacks\, and drinks. The area will be in full sun in the morning so please wear a hat\, and bring a refillable water bottle. \nTent Wash Day\nWednesday\, October 16\n9 am to 1pm\nREGISTER HERE \nThis is the first of three wash days. SUMMARY:Walk for The Woods Project - Volunteers
DESCRIPTION:The Walk for The Woods Project \nThe Woods Project is hosting our 13th annual Walk for The Woods Project event\, presented by ENGIE\, on Saturday\, October 26\, 2024 at BakerRipley- Ripley House. The Walk is our largest fundraiser of the year and will help us provide life-changing leadership development opportunities to even more Houston high school students from low-income communities. Nearly 200 students are expected to participate in our 2-week wilderness immersion program in summer 2025! \nA big thanks to those of you that have signed up to volunteer! We look forward to seeing you all on Friday and Saturday.
