DESCRIPTION:Summer Food and Snack Sorting\nDo you like to sort and organize things? If so\, we could use your help! This year we are separating the snack\, hot cocoa\, and oatmeal sorting from our gear pack-outs and hosting them as a separate event. We will meet at the warehouse and set up tables and bins. The activity involves counting out a variety of snacks\, oatmeal\, and cocoa packets and putting them in 2 gal bags. It’s a simple activity but time consuming due to the volume. 4 to 6 volunteers would make quick work of it! \nREGISTER HERE

DESCRIPTION:Summer Leader Training\nRequired for ALL summer volunteer leaders.\n \nThe Woods Project summer leader training spans 2 days and will be held at our offices directly behind the American Red Cross building (2700 Southwest Freeway\, Houston\, TX\, 77098). This training is for our summer trip leaders only. The training covers important information on procedures\, policies\, and programming through the incorporation of presentation\, discussion\, scenarios\, and hands-on gear handling. \nSummer leaders are required to attend 1 of the 2  available sessions. Leader training #1 is full. Please sign up for Summer Leader Training #2 or email diana@thewoodsproject.org. \nLeader training #1 – Saturday\, May 18 – Sunday\, May 19 \nLeader training #2 – Saturday\, June 1 – Sunday\, June 2: REGISTER HERE \nPlease register for one of the trainings if you have been assigned as a Summer Leader for the 2024 trips. \n

SUMMARY:Summer Gear Pack: Olympic/Apostle
DESCRIPTION:Please join us to help prepare for our summer program!  On this day\, we will be taking all of the camping equipment needed for the summer trip to Olympic National Park\, organizing it into backpack groups\, and then stuffing it into gearbags that will be shipped across the country so our students can use the camping equipment during their summer trips. \nPlease bring a refillable water bottle and comfortable clothes you do not mind getting dirty.
