SUMMARY:Spring Weekend Trip #3
DESCRIPTION:Little Thicket Nature Sanctuary or Sam Houston Backpacking\nLittle Thicket Nature Sanctuary: The Woods Project is excited to have access to explore this private nature sanctuary located just outside of Houston. We will day hike parts of the 655-acre sanctuary\, exploring the local fauna and wildlife. This trip will combine camping with a service learning project to help maintain and preserve the area. \nSam Houston National Forest: This is a great opportunity for your students and leaders to have a glimpse of what to expect on their summer trip. We will have four groups hiking the Four Notch Loop and the Lone Star Hiking Trail. The groups will hike about 10 miles total over the course of Saturday and Sunday. We are looking for folks of all skill levels – from first-time backpackers to experts! \nREGISTER HERE! \nPlease note:  The trip signup is your opportunity to make your preferences and availability for our weekend trips known.  We will make our best effort to place you on the trip(s) that you have requested.  However\, due to limits on capacity\, as well as the need to maintain a reasonable adult:student ratio\, there may be trips where we do not have space for every leader who would like to attend. We will follow up by email 1-2 weeks prior to our weekend trips with details and all the information you will need for attending.  Thank you!

DESCRIPTION:The Woods Project needs your help as we prepare backpacking meals for our 2023 summer trips. We will be preparing over a thousand dinner servings for the back country\, and we cannot put it all together without your help. Please bring a refillable water bottle and comfortable clothes. DESCRIPTION:Summer Leader Training\nRequired for ALL summer volunteer leaders. \nThe Woods Project summer leader training spans 2 days and will be held at our offices in the American Red Cross building (2700 Southwest Freeway\, Houston\, TX\, 77098). The training covers important information on procedures\, policies\, and programming through the incorporation of presentation\, discussion\, scenarios\, and hands-on gear handling. \nSummer leaders are required to attend 1 of the 2 sessions. \nLeader training #1 – Saturday\, April 22 – Sunday\, April 23 \nLeader training #2 – Saturday\, May 20 – Sunday\, May 21 \nREGISTER HERE if you have been assigned as a Summer Leader for the 2023 trips. \n  \n  \n
