SUMMARY:Weekend Workshop: Backpacking in Memorial Park
DESCRIPTION:Join The Woods Project in Houston’s largest park for a chance to get your hands on gear and putting on a loaded backpack.  We will pack our very own backpack\, make our lunch\, and head out for a hike with the gear.  You will learn how to fit a backpack and all the other components needed to start backpacking.  We will find a spot on the trail and stop and have lunch\, play a few games\, before heading back to the cars.\n\nInterested in volunteering? DESCRIPTION:REGISTER TODAY!      www.walkforthewoodsproject.org \nWalk for The Woods Project brings TWP students and supporters together for a 5K walking tour through the historic East End neighborhood and along the Buffalo Bayou\, ending with family fun\, food\, and live music at BakerRipley Ripley House.  It is our most important fundraiser of the year and promises to be a great morning of community\, meeting TWP students\, and fun! \nAdditionally\, what makes this Walk unique is the student stops found throughout the route\, where walkers will get to meet the incredible students that have benefited from our program. SUMMARY:Walk for The Woods Project volunteers
DESCRIPTION:The Woods Project is hosting our 10th annual Walk for The Woods Project event\, presented by ENGIE\, on Saturday\, November 13\, 2021 at BakerRipley- Ripley House.  \nThe Walk is our largest fundraiser of the year and will help us provide life-changing leadership development opportunities to even more Houston high school students from low-income communities.  Over 180 students are expected to participate in our 2-week wilderness immersion program in summer 2022! \nThis event would not be possible without the help of our wonderful volunteers. Many volunteer roles are available. Grab your friends\, family\, and social groups to volunteer with us to help create another successful Walk for The Woods Project.   \nVolunteers are needed on Friday\, November 12th\, noon – 5pm for setup and prep activities and Saturday\, November 13th\, 6am – 2pm to help manage event day activities.  There are many shifts to choose from – or decide to stay all day!  COVID-19 protocols will apply. \nQuestions: contact Jessi Manley\, jessi@thewoodsproject.org.
