DESCRIPTION:The Woods Project needs help restocking first aid kits for the upcoming program year! This work is extremely important and helps us to ensure the safety and health of our students and volunteers while they are out in the wilderness. If you are available to donate your time\, it will be greatly appreciated! \nWear comfortable clothing and bring a refillable water bottle. Dinner will be provided. \nOur meeting will be on the third floor of The American Red Cross building (2700 Southwest Freeway) BEHIND the main building\, connected to the parking garage. Please drive to the right side of the building where either\, the gate will be open\, or a member of our staff will await you. DESCRIPTION:As a part of our mission to provide underserved students with opportunities to develop critical skills for success\, The Woods Project recognizes the need to outfit students with appropriate resources\, tools\, and mentors to access new trails and destinations. The Woods Project is excited to host its annual College and Career Readiness Workshop on Saturday\, February 19!\nThe event will host multiple sessions\, providing students with interactive workshops where they will gain skills\, knowledge\, resources and opportunities that will help prepare them for life after high school. DESCRIPTION:Gear Inventory\, Cleaning and Move Prep – Calling all volunteers!\n40 Volunteers needed! \n\nAnnual Gear Day – Every MLK Day\, we get together to survey\, clean\, manage and fix all TWP gear in order to have it ready for the upcoming spring and summer semesters. This year we will need 40 volunteers so that we can clean\, count\, repair\, and make ready our gear for spring trips and a possible warehouse move. There are two options for volunteering – half day or full day – and we are excited for any time you are able to give! \nBreakfast and Lunch will be provided. \nIf you have not previously volunteered for The Woods Project\, please fill out our volunteer information form before signing up for a shift below. \n\nContact michael@thewoodsproject.org with any questions or if you think you might have some special skills that can be used. \nPLEASE NOTE: For everyone’s safety\, volunteers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to participate in this event. SUMMARY:Walk for The Woods Project volunteers
DESCRIPTION:The Woods Project is hosting our 10th annual Walk for The Woods Project event\, presented by ENGIE\, on Saturday\, November 13\, 2021 at BakerRipley- Ripley House.  \nThe Walk is our largest fundraiser of the year and will help us provide life-changing leadership development opportunities to even more Houston high school students from low-income communities.  Over 180 students are expected to participate in our 2-week wilderness immersion program in summer 2022! \nThis event would not be possible without the help of our wonderful volunteers. Many volunteer roles are available. Grab your friends\, family\, and social groups to volunteer with us to help create another successful Walk for The Woods Project.   \nVolunteers are needed on Friday\, November 12th\, noon – 5pm for setup and prep activities and Saturday\, November 13th\, 6am – 2pm to help manage event day activities.  There are many shifts to choose from – or decide to stay all day!  COVID-19 protocols will apply. \nQuestions: contact Jessi Manley\, jessi@thewoodsproject.org.
