At the end of every summer\, we have to unpack every single first aid kit\, check expiration dates\, clean bags and inventory what can be used in our upcoming program year. This event will help us get bags ready for the first aid restock in the spring.  If you are available to donate your time\, it will be greatly appreciated! \nWear comfortable clothing and bring a refillable water bottle. Sandwiches and snacks will be provided. \nOur meeting will be on the third floor of The American Red Cross building (2700 Southwest Freeway) BEHIND the main building\, connected to the parking garage. DESCRIPTION:Daytime Volunteers Needed!\n  \nAt The Woods Project we always strive to improve our program and serve our students in the best way possible. To get more done in a timely manner we are hoping to have volunteers sign up for shifts throughout the week. Shifts will be variable each week as the workload and needs change. In office tasks may include working on various kits\, club supplies\, data entry\, or even calls to students. Another task but located at the front of the Red Cross will be Saturday trip departures that involve helping leaders and teachers get students loaded onto the correct bus. \nI am also adding some warehouse tasks that involve loading up the Uhaul on Friday packouts and unloading it on their Sunday returns. In general\, there will be different tasks every week. If you are interested\, please sign-up below to be added to my daytime volunteer email list. It does not sign you up for a specific shift but adds you to the email list that will notify you when our shifts are created. I will send out registration links for specific shifts every 2 to 4 weeks. \nBecause many of these tasks may only require a handful of people\, you will need to register. Once you register for a specific shift you will receive a confirmation along with information about the location\, expected task and staff person in charge. \nAs always\, our wonderful volunteers are the only way we make things happen with a small staff. DESCRIPTION:Stephen F. Austin Biking or Brazos Bend Backpacking\nStephen F. Austin Biking: The Woods Project will be partnering with Texas Parks and Wildlife spending Saturday night camping at Stephen F. Austin State Park. On Saturday\, the group will be split so everyone will spend a half day mountain biking and the other half day exploring the park. Students will depart from the campground and head back to the ARC for pickup Sunday afternoon. Registration deadline 3/23/25 \nBrazos Bend Backpacking: We will be backpacking in this 4\,897-acre state park. Brazos Bend is known for its alligator population and unique features to this part of Texas\, so come ready to see some incredible wildlife while spending the day outside exploring. Saturday night will be spent camping at Brazos Bend\, and the trip will run from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon. DESCRIPTION:The Woods Project needs help restocking first aid kits for the upcoming program year! This work is extremely important and helps us to ensure the safety and health of our students and volunteers while they are out in the wilderness. If you are available to donate your time\, it will be greatly appreciated! \nWear comfortable clothing and bring a refillable water bottle. Snacks will be provided. \nOur meeting will be on the third floor of The American Red Cross building (2700 Southwest Freeway) BEHIND the main building\, connected to the parking garage. Please drive to the right side of the building where either\, the gate will be open\, or a member of our staff will await you.
