DESCRIPTION:It’s AIRPORT DAY!\nWe need your help! Join The Woods Project at both George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and or William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) as we send off nearly 200 students and 60 volunteers for their life-changing 2 week wilderness immersion experiences in California and Washington. \nWe have 6 flights departing between June 18th through July 13th. For many of our students\, this will be their first time on a plane – an exciting and nervous time! We need volunteers on the ground to help our student groups maneuver through the check-in process. This is a great way to connect with our students and encourage them as they embark on their journey. \nParking: Volunteers can park close to the Terminals or choose satellite parking. DESCRIPTION:Come help us wash & dry our sleeping bags!\nEvery summer we put our down sleeping bags through a lot of use and by the end they are in desperate need of washing. Now is the time to prepare them for our upcoming weekend camping trips. The most challenging part is drying our down sleeping bags which requires low heat and careful handling. SUMMARY:Fall Weekend Trip #2
DESCRIPTION:Little Thicket Nature Sanctuary or Turkey Creek Backpacking\nLittle Thicket Nature Sanctuary:  The Woods Project is excited to have access to explore this private nature sanctuary located just outside of Houston. We will day hike parts of the 655-acre sanctuary\, exploring the local fauna and wildlife. This trip will combine camping with a service learning project to help maintain and preserve the area! \nTurkey Creek Backpacking:  You can’t beat backpacking in the fall in Texas! Please join us for a great weekend exploring a section of the Big Thicket National Preserve! On Saturday\, the group will head out to the Turkey Creek Trail. Three groups of hikers will hike 12 miles in total between Saturday and Sunday morning. Saturday evening will be spent at a campsite along the trail. Upon finishing the hike on Sunday morning\, the group will head back to Houston at approximately 12:00pm. \nREGISTER HERE! \nPlease note:  The trip signup is your opportunity to make your preferences and availability for our weekend trips known.  We will make our best effort to place you on the trip(s) that you have requested.  However\, due to limits on capacity\, as well as the need to maintain a reasonable adult:student ratio\, there may be trips where we do not have space for every leader who would like to attend.
